The challenge of open adoptions

Open adoption is the type of adoption in which both the adoptive and the birth parents have some information about each other.  Today, open adoption varies greatly on the degree of “openness.” Some birth parents only know about the adopters through books and photographs containing their name and description, while some may actually be in communication with them.

The varying degree of openness can pose problems for adoption agencies, social workers, and even the adoptive and birth parents involved in an open adoption. Disagreements are likely to arise when discussing sensitive issues such as the amount of personal information shared between the birth and the adoptive parents and the frequency of contact between them.

Intricacies surrounding open adoption may be very difficult to understand and navigate without the help of experienced lawyers. If you live in The Woodlands and want to adopt, a lawyer from BB Law Group PLLC can help. SC adoptive parents ask FBI to retrieve adopted three-year-old girl

A couple residing in Charleston, South Carolina has asked for the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in physically bringing a Cherokee girl they have been trying to adopt to them. Matt and Melanie Capobianco called the federal law enforcement agency on Monday, August 12, asking for its assistance in taking three-year-old Veronica from her local hometown and giving her to her adoptive parents.

The request comes after the Capobiancos were granted adoption rights for Veronica by a South Carolina court. However, the couple has not received custody of Veronica, as she has been residing in Oklahoma since 2011 with her biological father, who has Cherokee blood.

Matt stated that he will make the trip to Oklahoma himself if the federal agents refused to acknowledge the request.

Unfortunately for parents who are looking to adopt, this process can be extremely complex and frustrating.
