Guy Pearce, 48-year-old British-Australian actor of Memento fame, announced on October 13 that he and his psychologist wife, Kate Mestitz are divorcing after eighteen years of marriage. Pearce posted the announcement online, confirming rumors that have been circling about the couple’s status, and revealed that he and Mestitz have actually been separated since January of this year.
Pearce is known to keep his personal life private, so it was not surprising that the actor did not provide a reason for the separation. The now ex-couple met back in 1980 and had been married for eighteen years after tying the knot in 1997.
The divorce was amicable, according to reports and Pearce himself. The actor had nothing but kind words for his ex-wife in posts made to his social media accounts after news of the divorce broke.
