A couple residing in Charleston, South Carolina has asked for the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in physically bringing a Cherokee girl they have been trying to adopt to them. Matt and Melanie Capobianco called the federal law enforcement agency on Monday, August 12, asking for its assistance in taking three-year-old Veronica from her local hometown and giving her to her adoptive parents.

The request comes after the Capobiancos were granted adoption rights for Veronica by a South Carolina court. However, the couple has not received custody of Veronica, as she has been residing in Oklahoma since 2011 with her biological father, who has Cherokee blood.

Matt stated that he will make the trip to Oklahoma himself if the federal agents refused to acknowledge the request.
