Sherri Shepherd and Lamar Sally custody fight continues

The fight over who will parent and pay for the care of Sherri Shepherd and Lamar Sally’s unborn surrogate son continues unresolved after Sally filed papers requesting full custody over the child, The Daily Mail reported on July 30.

On May 3, Sally filed for legal separation and requested for full custody of their unborn child. Sally also demanded that his estranged wife pay for spousal support and attorney fees, and he requested that their prenuptial agreement be thrown out based on fraud.

Shepherd allegedly wants no parental and financial roles over their son. Sources familiar with the situation said Shepherd believes she was duped into a surrogacy agreement so Sally could receive spousal support from her.

Mark Anthony to pay ex-wife $26,000 a month in child support

A long-standing court battle between singer-songwriter Mark Anthony and former beauty queen Dayanara Torres ordered Mark Anthony to pay his estranged wife $26,000 a month in child support, The Daily Mail reported on June 13.

Dayanara Torres initially requested $123,426 for the care of their two young sons aged 13 and 9, and an additional monthly allowance for a baby sitter and cleaning help ranging from $4,000 to $7,000. The court denied the request and instead ordered the 45-year-old celebrity to increase the child support he pays from $13,400 to $26,000. Mark Anthony allegedly fears that providing his kids with a hefty amount of money could spoil them or lead to drug addiction.

Texas OAG spearheads shared parenting services

Since recent studies indicate that children with divorced parents who receive attention from both parents get better grades in school than those who do not, the Texas’ Office of the Attorney General is offering parenting services to encourage divorced parents to become involved in their children’s lives.

The Attorney General’s Access and Visitation Hotline can be a tool for people to establish paternity, learn about child support, and access information about a parent’s right and responsibility to see his or her child.

The OAG also awards grants to organizations that advocate for divorced parent involvement. For this year, $579,000 was given to such organizations all over Texas, aiding education initiatives for cooperative parenting.

The OAG also allots limited funding for the resolution of custody or visitation disputes.

If you are facing divorce or are involved in a child custody dispute, you may consider seeking legal representation. Please call (832) 534-2589 to speak with our lawyers at the BB Law Group PLLC in The Woodlands today.
